At its last meeting, in Budapest, the Board of the World Federation of Science Journalists approved the membership of the Science Journalists and Communicators of Togo, JCS-Togo.

JCS-Togo had its founding general assembly in September 2009 and it now has a total of 21 individual members, mostly active journalists. The association plans to initiate its own training activities.

The President of the Science Journalists and Communicators of Togo is Ms. Andréa A. Dagawa, journalist with the Agence de communication et de presse, based in Lomé (Togo) (email: dagsag01@yahoo.fr ).

Florent Tiassou, journalist with Deutsche Welle, is in charge of communications and the person to contact for further information on JCS-Togo (email: tiassou@yahoo.fr ).

The World Federation of Science Journalists includes 40 associations of science journalists from all continents and one associate partner.

On my behalf and that of the Kenya Environment and Science Journalist Association (KENSJA), I do take this opportunity to congratulate and commend JCS-Togo on their admission into the family of the World Federation of Science Journalists. This is another valuable score in science journalism in Africa and underpins the importance of this segment of journalism to our content and the word at large. It is also a testimony to the growing strength of WSF and recognition it enjoys in the content.

Merci
