Jean-Marc Fleury, Executive Director of WFSJ, has been named Chair of the Bell Globemedia Chair in Science Journalism at Laval University (Québec), on 28 August 2007. "The Chair will aim at examining the mediatisation of science at a time when science journalism is undergoing tremendous changes", he said at a ceremony held in Québec City.
Valeria Roman, member of the Board of WFSJ and science journalist with Clarin (Buenos Aires), was selected as one of the 100 best journalists in Argentina by the Konex Foundation. She will receive her award next September.

Jan Rydman, who was a member of the WFSJ Finance Committee, passed away the 31 March 2007, in Helsinki (Finland). This was a shock for all his colleagues at the World Federation of Science Journalists who have had the great chance to know this wonderful, hard working and charismatic man.

Jean-Marc Fleury, executive director of the World Federation of Science journalists, was awarded a “Prix hommage”, by the Quebec Association of Science communicators, ACS, for his lifetime contribution to Science communication. Mr Fleury was one of the founding members of the Quebec association 30 years ago.
